Nate Mitchell
Nate enjoys serving as his clients as an advocate and problem solver. Prior to joining Hoggan Lee Hutchinson, Nate was a shareholder at a mid-sized firm in Salt Lake City, where he gained experience in a wide range of subject matter, including commercial litigation, employment, government liability, insurance defense, criminal defense, and family law. He enjoys advising clients on how best to navigate the patchwork of federal, state, and local laws governing zoning, land use, development, and entitlements, including Utah’s Land Use, Development, and Management Act, the Fair Housing Act, the Impact Fee Act, local ordinances, and the statutory or constitutional provisions governing the use of eminent domain or constitutional exactions.
As a litigator, Nate represents clients at the administrative, trial, and appellate level. His recent cases have arisen in a variety of contexts: commercial disputes involving a breach of contract or lease; conflicting positions over the use of an easement or property right; claims under state or federal constitution; judicial review of a proposed referendum or municipal annexation; eminent domain; appeals of administrative land use approvals; statutory challenges to impact fees; and requests for accommodation under state or federal fair housing laws.
